IMPORTANT SEPA UPDATE

7 March, 2024
From Friday afternoon 15th March – Monday 18th March 2024, the European SEPA Payment Schemes will undergo a mandatory change.  All Irish banks and credit unions may experience delays in payment processing over this weekend.  As a result, SEPA payments (Euro payments across Ireland & the EU) made on Friday 15th may not be credited to the beneficiary account until Monday March 18th and may not appear in customer accounts over the weekend as is the case normally.  The Irish Banking Community advise all customers to make payments on Thursday 14th March or early Friday morning 15th March to ensure that the beneficiary account is credited on Friday.

What type of payments will be affected?

  • Electronic transfers done at the counter using an IBAN and BIC
  • Web transfers done online to an account not within the Credit Union
  • Bill payments

What should I do?

  • It is recommended that payments are sent on Thursday 14th March or early on Friday 15th to ensure delivery of payments to beneficiary accounts on Friday.
